Available for over a year
Uganda's four-day musical extravaganza, Nyege Nyege, is back after being put on hold since 2019 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. There were also moves earlier this month by some Ugandan parliamentarians to have it cancelled over claims of immorality. But the attempt was foiled when government ruled that it should be held - albeit with conditions - because it brought in much needed revenue. Around 8000 people from all over the world are expected to gather on the banks of the River Nile in Jinja, Eastern Uganda. This year is the second time that reveller Zawedde Patricia Zoe has attended the event, and she was determined not to miss the opening day. She told Focus on Africa's Audrey Brown "the excitement is up on the roof" for Nyege Nyege. (Photo: Zawedde Patricia Zoe. Credit: Courtesy of Zawedde Patricia Zoe.)
