Essex charities criticise mini-Budget

Sonia Watson

Available for over a year

Essex charities helping people on low incomes have told 麻豆社 Essex the government's mini-Budget will do nothing for those in need. The Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng has defended the biggest tax cuts in 50 years against accusations they mainly help the rich, saying they favour people right across the income scale. But 麻豆社 Essex speaks to Essex charities who say this isn't the case. We hear from Cass Francis from Southend Foodbank, Linda Redgrave who is a debt advisor case worker from Southend Citizens Advice Bureau, and Dee Johnson, a psychotherapist and counsellor from Southend who says the cost-of-living crisis is having a big impact on people's mental health.
