Young African activists struggle to attend 'African COP'

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

The COP27 Climate summit will take place in Egypt. But limited accreditations and expensive travel costs have made it difficult for young activists to attend. Lekwa, from Nigeria, is the lead researcher at the climate activism organisation Susty Vibes, and Sharon Gakii is a climate justice activist with Fridays for Future in Kenya. The two are among a high number of activists who have not been able to acquire accreditation for COP27. They tell Bola Mosuro their story.
