'It’s no accident that it's women players that are speaking out more firmly'

Woman's Hour

Available for over a year

England and Arsenal player Lotte Wubben-Moy says she won’t be watching the Fifa World Cup in Qatar. She’s the latest women’s football player to speak out about the tournament being held there, due to Qatar’s stance on women, homosexuality and human rights. Lioness Beth Mead has also discussed the decision, calling it, ‘disappointing’. Suzy Wrack is the Women's Football writer for The Guardian – she joined Nuala McGovern on Â鶹Éç Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour to talk about why women footballers might be more likely to speak out and why it is so significant.
