In 2009, 24 year old Toby Gutteridge was an elite Special Forces soldier with the British army in Afghanistan. One night his team was tasked with targeting Taliban leaders who were known to be in a particular compound, and in the firefight Toby was shot in the neck. It was a terrible injury - there are some gory and distressing details. It's the reason Toby is now on a ventilator which you’ll hear in the background.
