Considered the first sporting event to receive a major TV audience, 1953’s FA cup final between Blackpool and Bolton is considered by many to be the greatest performance of Stanley Matthews’ career. Blackpool beat Bolton 4-3 and the game went down in history as ‘The Matthews Final.’ In this extract, we hear him thank his fans for their support after the game.
