Edward Berger on "All quiet on the Western Front"

Weekend

Available for over a year

鈥淎ll Quiet on the Western Front鈥 is arguably, one of the best novels ever written about the first world war. It recounts a German experience of war. It's author, Erich Maria Remarque, was a German foot soldier wounded in that war. He wrote the book in German and published it in 1928. The novel was adapted for the big screen in 1930 by director Lewis Milestone. It has been brought back to the big screen again this year, by director Edward Berger. He tells us why he decided to do this and what does it mean in today's world.
