Ukraine says Russia planning New Year offensive

Newsday

Available for over a year

The Ukrainian government says it believes Russia is planning to launch a large ground offensive early in the New Year. President Volodymyr Zelensky and senior officials have warned against complacency, despite recent Russian military setbacks. In remarks to the British media, the defence minister, Oleksii Reznikov, said that half of the 300,000 Russian conscripts mobilised in recent months were in training and would be ready for an offensive early next year, possibly as soon as January. Tymofiy Mylovanov is Ukraine's former economics minister. He is also an adviser to President Zelensky and head of the Kyiv School of Economics. He told Newsday: 鈥淭he offensive is not 100 percent given but it is very likely.鈥 (Picture: Shows conscripts at a ceremony in the course of Russia-Ukraine conflict in the Donetsk region, Russian-controlled Ukraine on November 28th 2022.
