Taliban ban women from working for NGOs

Newshour

Available for over a year

The United Nations has accused the Taliban of violating fundamental rights, after Afghanistan's Islamist rulers imposed more restrictions on the lives of women. They've been banned from working for aid agencies. The Taliban said female employees had not followed their interpretation of the Islamic dress code. Thousands of Afghan women work for local and international NGOs - helping other women and supporting their families. Wazhma Frogh is a prominent Afghan activist who has been campaigning for women's rights in her country for two decades. She also runs a local NGO in Afghanistan. How will this affect her work?
