Do you live with a ‘man-child’?

Woman's Hour

Available for over a year

How equal is the division of chores in your household? Does your male partner sit around watching TV while you cook, clean, look after the children and organise the family's social life? If so, you might be living with or married to a 'man-child'. According to new research, the man-child phenomenon is real - a man who depends on his partner for everyday tasks that he is actually perfectly capable of doing himself. And having a man dependent on you in this way can have a real impact on the woman's sexual interest in her partner. One of the authors of this research is Professor Sari van Anders from the department of psychology at Queen's University in Canada. She told Â鶹Éç Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour about why there is now a real psychological term for 'man-child’. You can listen to the full discussion on Â鶹Éç Sounds - just search for the Woman’s Hour episode from 28 December.
