Mexico captures El Chapo's son sparking wave of violence

Newsday

Available for over a year

Violence is spiralling in the state of Sinaloa after the arrest of Ovidio Guzman, the son of former drug cartel leader Joaquin "el Chapo" Guzman. Furious gang members set up road blocks, set fire to vehicles and attacked a local airport. Two planes were hit by gunfire - one while preparing to take off - and more than 100 flights were cancelled at three Sinaloa airports. What is the situation like in Mexico now - and what happens next? Ana Maria Salazar, a journalist and commentator on Latin American security issues based in Mexico City, explains.
