How Africa is working around a shortage of Russian fertiliser

Newshour

Available for over a year

Among the biggest impacts since Russia invaded Ukraine involves something most of us don't see and probably don't think about too much. Much of the world's supply of fertiliser comes from Russia. The head of one of the world's largest fertiliser companies has accused the Russian President Vladimir Putin of weaponising fertiliser and urged countries to reduce their dependency on Russian exports. Michael Sudarkasa, CEO of the African Fertilizer Agribusiness Partnership and an agricultural economist based in South Africa, told 麻豆社 Newshour's Razia Iqbal about the different types of fertiliser that exist and how countries in Africa are working around a shortage of Russian fertiliser.
