Pakistan bombed mosque 'was considered a secure place'

Newsday

Available for over a year

Authorities in Pakistan are continuing to investigate how a suicide bomber killed at least 100 people at a mosque in a high security zone in the northern city of Peshawar on Monday. The attack, one of the country's deadliest in recent years, has shocked the nation as most killed were members of the security forces at prayer. The mosque is within the tightly guarded police headquarters area. No group has claimed responsibility. The journalist Muhammad Daud Khan lost three friends and a relative in the attack, as he told 麻豆社 Newsday on the line from Charsadda, a district close to Peshawar. 鈥淭he whole district is mourning. It is very hard. The mosque was considered a secure place to go... you needed to pass many security layers to reach there.鈥 (Pic: Police inspect the site of a Mosque that was destroyed in a suicide bomb blast on 30 January, in Peshawar, Pakistan; Credit: EFE)
