Nigerian communities file pollution case against Shell

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Two communities in Nigeria’s Delta region have filed a lawsuit in a London court against oil company, Shell. Residents from the Ogale and Bille communities in the Niger Delta want Shell to clean up oil spills and compensate them for the damage to their land. The claims, filed last week, are the latest development in a seven-year legal battle. We heard from lawyer, Matthew Renshaw, who is representing the communities.
