Turkey-Syria earthquake: 'There are no borders. We're all the same now'

Outside Source

Available for over a year

The devastation of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has left hundreds of thousands in need of urgent medical assistance. Aid agencies say more than one million people have been left homeless in Turkey, and in Syria this number could be much higher. Many Syrians have been angry over the lack of aid arriving in the country. The government of President Bashar al-Assad blames Western sanctions. International aid groups say it鈥檚 the Assad regime鈥檚 mismanagement and refusal to engage with all areas of the country that鈥檚 stopping aid getting through. But doctors on both sides of the border are overstretched and under huge pressure. The 麻豆社鈥檚 Outside Source brought three of them together: Dr Mohamed Zahid Al-Masri and Dr Osama Salloum in Syria, and Dr Turhan Comez who is in Southern Turkey.
