Nigeria warns against money bouquets

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Nigeria‘s Central Bank has warned on the making of money bouquets from banknotes. The apex bank also lists spraying, selling, squeezing, and defacing the banknotes as other forms of currency abuse. Sending cakes made from banknotes and money bouquets to loved ones on special occasions is a common practice in the west African nation. But with a biting shortage of newly designed naira banknotes, the Central Bank is not about to join the party. Bola Mosuro speaks to florist Rebecca George about how this latest announcement might affect her business.
