Bus Services across Leicestershire halved since 2016

Ady Dayman

Available for over a year

Analysis by the 麻豆社 shows that Britain's local bus network shrank by nearly 19 per cent in the decade to March last year. Data from the Department for Transport suggests that Leicestershire has seen a 50% drop in the distance that buses have travelled since 2016. That's the second biggest fall of any local authority in England. Operators say they have had to close some routes because of falling passenger numbers and rising prices. This week a budget meeting takes place at Leicestershire County Hall where new proposals could be brought in to scrap subsidised bus fares across 26 services stretching the entirety of Leicestershire. Ushma Mistry has been out on the 154 Centrebus Service between Leicester and Loughborough, one of the services currently under review.
