It is estimated that there were more than 21,000 students from African countries or with African heritage enrolled in higher education institutions in Ukraine when Russia launched its attack. Many were studying medicine at universities. One year on from the start of the war, four students - Korrine, Moses, Jessica and Emmanuel - who had to abandon their courses and flee the country, tell Focus on Africa about the uncertainty and challenges they have faced, and whether they would consider returning to Ukraine in the future.
