'28th The Crossroads': The history of Ghana's Independence movement

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Following Ghana's recent 66th Independence day celebrations, a new animation series depicting important events in the country’s history called '28th The Crossroads’ has been released. It centres around a protest in 1948 which is said to be the foundation of Ghana's Independence movement. The animation recreates what led to the Crossroad shooting of World War II veterans, Sergeant Adjetey along with Corporal Attipoe and Private Lamptey. They were going to present a petition to the British Governor of the Gold Coast Regiment, Sir Gerald Creasy, over their unpaid gratuities after fighting in the war. It still leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of the family members and those who know the history. Focus on Africa's Mark Wilberforce asked Cycil Jones Abban, managing director of Parables Animation Studios why he chose to tell this story?
