Turkey earthquake donations taken by border police

Rakeem Omar

Available for over a year

This week we've been following the journey of two trucks full of humanitarian aid being sent from a Birmingham Mosque to Turkey but there's been a twist in the tale. Jim Bennet from Bromsgrove is one of the drivers and has kept us updated on the trip. He took a week off work as an emergency planner with West Midlands Police to deliver the aid. Earlier we heard how their trucks were stopped at the Greece-Turkey border and all the donations inside were taken by Turkish authorities. Determined not to give up they recovered from that major setback and carried on through Turkey to meet up with their charity contact.
