Royal Bournemouth Hospital: number of people needing care following weight loss surgery abroad rises

One of the stories that's been getting a lot of media coverage recently, including here on 麻豆社 Radio Solent, is about the potential risks of travelling abroad to have weight loss surgery. It's something that's promoted a lot on social media, with promises of life-changing operations that can be booked quickly, without the long waiting lists that exist in the NHS. But a 麻豆社 investigation has revealed that seven patients who travelled to Turkey died after their operations and many others have suffered serious complications. Richard Byron, Consultant Surgeon at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, said the number of people with complications following surgery abroad seems to be a growing.
