Newshour

Available for over a year

Former US President Donald Trump has been formally charged with 34 felony counts, and he appeared in court in Manhattan to plead not guilty to all charges. Amongst the charges is the central allegation that he falsified business records to conceal crimes that hid damaging information from voters before and after the 2016 election in which he became president. Mr Trump is the first US ex-president in history to face a criminal trial. Duncan Levin is a former federal prosecutor and a former senior staffer with the Manhattan District Attorney's office. He considers the charges against the former president.
