How a male contraceptive pill could ‘inhibit sperm from fertilising’

Newshour

Available for over a year

The contraceptive pill for women was developed back in the 1950s, but up to now, a pill for men has remained out of reach.  Most approaches over the years have relied on trying to affect hormones. But a new study published in Nature Communications has suggested a better approach might be interfering with the way a gene operates. Professor Jon Oatley is at the School of Molecular Biosciences at Washington State University and the senior author of the study.  He explains how this new approach works.
