Oromo opposition group on Ethiopia peace negotiations

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

The Oromo Liberation army and the Ethiopian government have blamed each other for frequent attacks in the Oromia region. Now, the two sides are meeting in Tanzania to talk peace. The Oromo Liberation Army is a splinter group of the Oromo Liberation Front, a formerly banned opposition party that returned from exile and agreed to disarm when Abiy Ahmed took office in 2018. Bola Mosuro spoke to Odaa Tarbil, International spokesperson for the Oromo Liberation Army. (Picture: OLA fighters have been projecting themselves as the champions of Oromo nationalism.
