Putin accuses Ukraine of trying to intimidate civilians

Newsday

Available for over a year

Russian President Vladimir Putin has responded to Tuesday's drone attacks on the capital Moscow, accusing Ukraine of trying to frighten Russians. He said civilians were targeted, but air defences dealt satisfactorily with the threat. The defence ministry said at least eight drones caused minor damage, but Kyiv has denied responsibility. This is the first time the city has been targeted by multiple drones since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Newsday spoke to Nikolay who lives close to one of the locations attacked. For safety reasons his full identity has been concealed. He said: 鈥淚 don鈥檛 think that people are scared but of course they feel uncomfortable.鈥 (Picture: Shows workers repair damage on the roof of a multi-storey apartment block following a reported drone attack in Moscow, Russia, May 30, 2023.
