In the days since a deadly three-train collision killed almost 300 people in the Indian state of Odisha, more than 80 bodies remain unclaimed. The collision, on the first Friday evening of June, is India鈥檚 worst rail accident this century; it involved two passenger trains and a stationary goods train. More than 1,000 were injured, with many families still looking for loved ones. From Odisha鈥檚 state capital, Bhubaneswar, Newsday spoke to freelance journalist Sandeep Sahu who was at the scene of the crash for several days. 鈥淚've covered a lot of tragedies but I've never seen anything like this. Many of the bodies are decomposed beyond recognition. There are some cases, not many but some, where people are claiming bodies just to avail the compensation amount. So the authorities have now decided they will get DNA tests... to ensure the bodies are handed over to the right person."
