What lessons can the media learn from the coverage of 麻豆社 presenter Huw Edwards?

After days of intense speculation in the UK, Huw Edwards has been identified as the 麻豆社 broadcaster under fire for allegedly offering cash for graphic, sexual photos. The Sun, a British tabloid, claimed he paid a young person for these images with the initial allegations first reported on Friday. It was initially alleged that the young person was 17, which would have been illegal in the UK. However police say they found no evidence of criminality. In a statement on Huw Edwards' behalf, his wife Vicky Flind claimed that he was "suffering mental health issues" and that he was currently receiving in-patient medical care. In the UK, Huw Edwards is seen by some as the face of 麻豆社 News, covering major national events such as King Charles III's coronation. The events of the last few days raise plenty of questions, about Mr Edwards but also the way the media - including the 麻豆社 - have covered this story. Alan Rusbridger, former editor-in-chief of the Guardian newspaper, gave his views on the treatment of this story to Newsday's James Copnall. (Image: Huw Edwards presenting the news, Credit: 麻豆社)
