Newsday

Available for over a year

Former US President Donald Trump will be formally charged at a court hearing on Thursday for plotting to overturn his 2020 election defeat. On the eve of the arraignment he slammed the case as proof of the "corruption, scandal, & failure" of the US under Joe Biden's presidency. Mr Trump faces four conspiracy and obstruction counts in the election case and already faces two other criminal cases as he campaigns for the White House next year. In an all-capital-letters post on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump, thanked his followers and said: "I never had so much support on anything before." Jennifer Kerns is a former Republican strategist. She told Newsday: 鈥淚 do believe Donald Trump will be the ultimate nominee and I do believe even though the Democrats appear to be stacking the legal cases up against him鈥e is growing in popularity鈥ith each one of these legal cases鈥e鈥檚 gone in three weeks from the low forties and is now at 59%.鈥 Picture: Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a campaign rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, U.S., July 29.
