Mars may have once had Earth-like seasons conducive to life

Newshour

Available for over a year

New fossil evidence from Mars suggests that the planet had wet and dry seasons billions of years ago - which would have provided ideal conditions for life. For the study, researchers from The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Paul Sabatier University, and Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 in France, looked at data from Nasa鈥檚 Curiosity rover, launched in 2012. But what does the evidence actually show? Newshour's Owen Bennett-Jones has been speaking to William Rapin, a research scientist on this project. (Photo: Mars' Curiosity Rover.
