In the two years since US and Nato forces withdrew from Afghanistan, the Taliban says the nation is a safer place. Taliban government spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, told the �鶹�� that they had “provided security all over the country”. However, life has been particularly difficult for women who have been banned from almost all public spaces. One woman in Kabul, who is unnamed due to safety concerns, told Newsday how she copes. She said that women “should accept it to be safe”, explaining, “I do not consider the negative changes as I am an optimist woman. I’m not hopeless, still I am hopeful…I do yoga at home to decrease my anxiety and depression…I encourage other women, if they cannot go to the gym, they can follow the sports You Tube channels and do not think about the negative changes…because if we think or consider it negative changes, it will impact on our physical and mental side.” (Picture: Shows a banner with images of women defaced inside a private university after the universities were reopened in Kabul on March 6, 2023.
