The Central Laser facility in Didcot has secured funding to build the world's most powerful laser! CLF, based at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in South Oxfordshire, uses a suite of lasers to create the fourth state of matter (in addition to solid, liquid, and gas) known as plasma. Anna Gray spoke to Professor Mark Thomson, Executive Chair of the Science and Technology Facilities Council, to find out more about what this means for Oxfordshire.
