The penguin population that bounced back

Newshour

Available for over a year

A biodiversity summit in London organised by the Whitley Fund for Nature is bringing together conservationists from around the world, especially those who have found ways of turning around declines in species. Among them is Dr Pablo Garcia Borboroglu from Argentina whose work at the El Pedral penguin colony on the south Atlantic coast has seen it go from 12 penguins in 2008 to more than 8,000 today. He told Newshour's James Menendez how they went about their work and about the importance of involving local communities in conservation efforts.
