The Palestinian space engineer trying to evacuate his elderly parents from Gaza

Loay Elbasyouni is a US citizen and scientific engineer with NASA and lives in Los Angeles. He has been a member of the team that sent the Perseverance to Mars in March 2020 and is a chief engineer for the design team of the Ingenuity robotic helicopter. He is originally from Gaza. His elderly parents live in Germany - their adopted country - but they were visiting Gaza when the war started in October and are still there.
