REMAP charity calls for more work

Sonia Watson

Available for over a year

A charity that makes everyday life easier for people with disabilities said the pandemic had led to a drop in referrals for its services. REMAP engineers adapt and modify everyday objects such as cutlery, door handles and table cut-outs. But the charity says its engineers did not have enough work to do due to fewer requests from social worker and healthcare visits. Essex County Council said it was working to increase referrals. One of REMAP's initiatives is building games consoles for people with dementia, with the help of local schoolchildren. Â鶹Éç Essex speaks to David Maclean from Felsted School, whose pupils are helping to build the consoles.
