Dorset seafood festival cancelled
Available for over a year
The Dorset Seafood Festival was founded in 2008 and last year had a record attendance of 10,000 festival-goers. But organisers have pulled the plug on this year's event blaming spiralling costs and falling sponsorship for making it unsustainable. They say the festival raised more than £90,000 for the Fisherman's Mission charity over 15 years, and a study on the impact of the 2022 event suggested there was a £3.1 million economic benefit locally. We spoke to the chief operations officer at We Are Weymouth (the Business Improvement District), Dawn Rondeau-Irvine.
