Ian Wright turns pirate DJ in new dystopian London film

Available for over a year

The Kitchen is a new film on Netflix set in a near-future dystopian London, focussing on an endangered social housing community. Co-directed by Oscar winning actor Daniel Kaluuya and Kibwe Tavares, it ruminates on class, gentrification, and some scary insights into this imagined world that’s oppressive and controlled by the state. The film starts with us following the story of Izi, played by Kane Williamson (aka Kano), who is trying to leave the area but then he meets Benji, the orphaned son of his ex-girlfriend, and slowly steps up to take care of him. There's also a well-reviewed acting debut for Ian Wright - who plays Lord Kitchener - a pirate radio station DJ who broadcasts to the struggling community.
