Are dogs in London behaving worse since the pandemic?

Available for over a year

Dogs bought in the pandemic have high rates of problem behaviours, a Royal Veterinary College study suggests. It estimates high rates of behaviours such as separation anxiety and aggression towards other dogs. New owners are more likely to use punishment in training which risks worsening behaviour, the study's author warns. Rescue charity Battersea also says it has seen a rise in dogs with problem behaviours linked to the pandemic. So why is this? And what can dog owners do? 麻豆社 London's Victoria Hollins has been speaking to Dan O'Neill, Associate Professor of Companion Animal Epidemiology at the RVC, and Anna Webb, Dog Behaviour expert and co-host of 'Barking at the Moon' on 麻豆社 Radio London.
