92 year old waits 20 hours with broken leg
Available for over a year
A 92 year old Grandma was left lying on the floor for 14 hours waiting for an ambulance to come after she broke her leg. It's after a critical incident had been declared at Leicester's Hospitals, due to demand on services and long waiting times for patients. The Integrated Care Board told us 'there's currently significant demand for all services with hospitals seeing a high number of patients needing care, a challenging ambulance handover situation, and limited ability to discharge patients to onward care or home.' 'We urge people to only attend the Emergency Department if they have a life-threatening injury or illness. If your condition is urgent but not life-threatening, please call 111 or use the NHS 111 online service to get advice'. Rebecca Blades told Sophia Hartley about her Grandma's experience.
