The Ministry of Justice has made no final decision about proposals for a ‘mega prison’ in the Essex village of Wethersfield. The former RAF base near Braintree already has an asylum centre which opened in the summer of 2023. Alan MacKenzie is the chair of The Fields Association, a group of Wethersfield residents campaigning against the building of any prison in their village, who've compiled a report on the proposals.
