Morecambe Bay cockling disaster 20 years on
Available for over a year
The deaths of 23 Chinese migrants in 2004 has been marked in a memorial service on the beach, to remember the victims of the tragedy. They had been collecting cockles when they were cut off by the tide, and ended up drowning. A permit scheme has now been introduced to prevent a repeat of the disaster, which has had a big impact on the close-knit local community.
