Flash floods 'rip up' Ross-on-Wye town centre

Available for over a year

Traders and local people react to the heavy downfalls which affected Broad Street, washing away the surface of the road, and leaving sand in its wake. Other businesses were flooded on Brookend Street. Our reporter Tom Edwards is at the scene. An emergency meeting is to be held on Monday morning, with Herefordshire Council and its contractor Balfour Beatty set to carry out inspections. Problems began when the storm, combined with ongoing town centre works, led to drainage issues, meaning surface water run-off could not be handled.
