Conservationists excited at Bedfordshire discovery
Available for over a year
Peter Bradley of the RSPB says it’s the first sighting of Weedy Frillwort in the county. The tiny species of liverwort has moved into a quarry in Sandy. The site is managed jointly by the quarrying company, Tarmac, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds who collaborate to ensure wildlife can co-exist alongside the continuing extraction of sand.
