Making a splash in remote communities

Not by the Playbook

Available for over a year

Volunteering has given former Australian swimmer Kurt Herzog a new lease of life – and remote swimming pools too. Herzog claimed bronze at the World Swimming Championships in 2015, but after just missing out on selection for the Olympic Games a year later, he's now helping others dive into the pool. He’s working in Aboriginal communities in northern Australia to bring neglected public pools back to life and he tells Sportshour’s Caroline Barker how it's helped him adapt to life after elite sport and why the pools are needed.
