Nuclear testing: "We've been disowned"
Available for over a year
Roger Filby from Caversham was stationed on Christmas Island in 1956 and 1957. He had a front sear as nuclear bombs were dropped in the Pacific. It was part of military testing by the British government, with servicemen ordered to fly through mushroom clouds, or take part in radioactive experiments. However many veterans say they're still suffering from debilitating health conditions as a result. For more information you can watch 'Britain’s Nuclear Bomb Scandal: Our Story', on Â鶹Éç iPlayer.
