LGBT veterans who were jailed or sacked to get compensation

Today

Available for over a year

British military veterans who were sacked, and in some cases imprisoned, because of their sexuality are to receive up to £70,000 each in compensation, with the government putting aside £75m for the scheme. Today's Emma Barnett speaks to Professor Andrew Hartle, who was dismissed from the RAF for his sexuality in 1997. He says "some people have waited 50 or 60 years" for the compensation scheme. Listen to Today on Â鶹Éç Radio 4 and Â鶹Éç Sounds: 6-9am weekdays and 7-9am on Saturdays.
