A litter picker from Peterborough says we're in the midst of a 'national epidemic' of abandoned traffic signs, bollards and sandbags. It’s claimed that traffic management contractors aren't collecting equipment after roadworks and maintenance. The cost could be substantial with a simple cone costing 15 pounds. A spokesperson for National Highways, which is responsible for litter collection on motorways and some trunk roads, said "We make every effort to keep the strategic road network clean and tidy." Peterborough City Council said they were aware of the problem and were working with partners to get the equipment removed. John Devine has followed the signs.
