Is one big pizza bigger than two small pizzas?

Available for over a year

Discover the pizza maths you never knew you needed to know! Our expert works out why, for total pizza value, you're better off going large. Dr David Cushing from the University of Manchester tells Elliott Webb that because area increases at a faster rate than straight lines, an 18-inch pizza will hold more pizza 'real estate' than two 12-inch pizzas, all things being equal. The exception to the rule is when you really love your crust, as two 12-inch pizzas will have a larger crust than an 18-inch pizza. Image credit: Â鶹Éç/Alex Segre
