The daughter of the woman who inspired the Ask for Angela safety scheme is calling for tougher penalties for abusers. Angela Crompton was killed by her husband in 2012, just three months after they married. Her story later became the basis for the scheme—used in thousands of bars—to help people who feel unsafe on a date discreetly ask staff for help. But a Â鶹Éç undercover investigation found that more than half of staff tested didn’t know how to respond. Since our report, dozens of councils have moved to make it a licensing requirement. Now, for the first time, Angela’s daughter has spoken about her mother’s link to the scheme. Guy Lynn reports
