Today speaks to a woman living in Russian-occupied Ukraine - rare testimony from a place that is essentially closed to the outside world. Presenter Anna Foster speaks to the woman – who we’ve called Maria to protect her identity - about a potential ceasefire in the region, as it is suggested that captured land will remain Russian. Maria is a Ukrainian activist, part of a women’s resistance group, and she's been living under Russian occupation for three years now. The Today team took important steps to ensure her safety in speaking out. She connected on a secure line, agreed to use a different name, and her words have been revoiced, with the help of the Â鶹Éç’s Ukrainian service. Due to the difficulty in accessing the region, we have not been able to independently verify everything that Maria says in this interview.
