The signs of wild beavers in the Wyre Forest

Available for over a year

A family of beavers are thriving, a year after being released into an enclosure near Bewdley. Two adults and four kits moved from Scotland and have quickly gone about making themselves at home. Beavers were once widespread throughout Britain, but were hunted to near-extinction by the 16th Century. Today, the animals are a protected species and successful reintroductions are taking place across the country. Alistair Binney has been to the enclosure to meet Richard Boles - Area Forester for Forestry England, covering the Wyre Area.
